Payroll Specialist

**Job Requirements**:
**Education and Work Experience**:

- High School Education/GED or equivalent required; Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience preferred.
- Two years of technical experience preferred.

**Licenses/Certifications**:

- Payroll Professional Certification preferred.

**Essential Functions**:

- Process new hires, terminations, tax exemptions, and other payroll data accurately and efficiently.
- Review and audit information entered by Human Resources staff to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Guide others in completing tasks within defined schedules as set by management.
- Monitor, produce, and distribute weekly reports of hours and earnings to management.
- Distribute payroll reports as needed and process employment verifications.
- Reconcile and issue W-2 tax forms at year-end.
- Review and audit employee timecard records in the electronic Time & Attendance System.
- Address employee inquiries regarding payroll deductions, check amounts, and other related concerns.
- Maintain and process deductions and transmittals for garnishments, disability, worker's compensation, and retirement accounts.
- Handle moderately difficult assignments, exercising judgment in issue resolution or making recommendations.
- Ensure timely calculation and transmission of all required payroll tax deposits to IRS and state authorities.
- Complete required State and Federal Payroll reports, excluding Payroll Tax reports.
- Prepare and calculate manual checks based on hours worked/earned for corrections and terminations between payrolls, as needed.
- Assist in orienting and providing on-the-job skills training to others.

**Job Type**: Full Time

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
