**Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55) )-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees.**

**SUMMARY OF POSITION**

Position assists in oversight, directs, and supervises activities of the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Department including the school based mental health, PEI program, and juvenile justice mental health services. Duties also include participation in Los Angeles County meetings, Productivity and Quality Improvement processes, Interdisciplinary meetings, etc. This position assures compliance with all governmental agencies including, the County Department of Mental Health, Department of Probation, and Department of Child and Family Services.

**ESSENTIALS DUTIES**
- Serves as head of service in absence of the Program Director
- Liaison between administrative, clinical/program staff and other agencies.
- Supervises assigned staff, including provision of clinical supervision hours for
- staff/interns who are BBS registered.
- Assists Program Director in clinical program development.
- Recruits and interviews applicants for clinical positions
- Plans and implements clinical training for staff.
- Assists in clinical training and supervising of new therapists and case managers
- Maintains detailed knowledge of, and monitors compliance with, DMH and
- Gateways’ documentation requirements and service delivery benchmarks.
- Participates in educational seminars for the department.
- Assists with the development, maintenance and evaluation of policies and procedures.
- Writes reports and presentations as required.
- Attends inter/intra-agency meetings for networking and information sharing
- Keeps program personnel informed of professional and community trends, issues, concerns and requests.
- Participates in staff and treatment team meetings and contributes pertinent information.
- Assist other programs as necessary.
- Works independently.
- Provides on-call coverage for emergency consultation and intervention outside of regular work hours
- Assists in crisis situations as needed and helps to facilitate client transfers to higher levels of care, when needed/indicated.
- Ensure productivity and budget requirements are met and that each funding stream is maximized appropriately. Assist Director of GCAOP in monitoring and ensuring appropriately billing each funding bucket for the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Program.
- Monitor documentation and medication management protocol to ensure children and adolescents have access to and follow up with needed medication management services.
- Monitor and ensure implementation of appropriate quality management tools are implemented across programs e.g., outcome measures (e.g., CANS, PSC-35, YOQ, PTSD-RI, RCADS, PhQ-9, ECBI etc.), Quality Improvement Reporting. Develop and deliver OMA data to LAC DMH.
- Hires, trains, evaluates and develops corrective action plans for staff in collaboration with the Program Director and Chief Human Resources Officer.
- Performs other duties as assigned

**ESSENTIAL SKILLS**
- Knowledge of all medications, with emphasis on psychiatric medications.
- Basic understanding of legal aspects of mental health including confidentiality, holds, probable cause hearings, and patients rights.
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills, leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
- Proven ability to work with adolescent and adult patients
- Operate select equipment.
- Basic physical assessment skills
- Understanding of individual, group, and family psychotherapy

**EDUCATION & CERTIFICATES**
- Master’s Degree from an accredited school of social work or psychology
- LCSW, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist
- Must be eligible to complete appropriate clinical supervision training in order to supervise registered MFT, PCC, or MSW interns or other disciplines as designated.

**EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS**
- Experience providing individual and group therapy in mental health field.
- Functional experience with mental health system.
- Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement program experience.
- Public sector mental health experience.
- Treatment and diagnostic skills utilizing the DSM V.
- Experience working with child, adolescent, and TAY populations.
