Early Childhood Level Assistant

Our school has pioneered play and nature-based early childhood classes for fifty years, and we continue to draw the interest of families from across the Chicagoland area. Our Early Childhood Level Assistants work closely with and are guided by the Lead Teachers of each class as well as the EC Level Chair. Working together, the Lead teachers and Assistants create a warm, joyful and magical classroom community where the days of the week and the seasons of the year are celebrated in song, craft, food and ample outdoor time. During the morning, the Lead Teacher supervises the class, the classroom assistant acts as a support to the Lead Teacher and the level assistants support all the classrooms on a rotating basis. In the afternoons, the EC Level Assistants supervise nap and/or outdoor play.

Hours: 8am-3pm Monday-Friday. Level Assistants are also expected to attend the full faculty meeting once a month.

**Qualifications**
- Demonstrate joy and reverence for childhood
- Spend time outdoors in all weather
- Sit and stand for long periods of time, sometimes on the floor - Prepare simple snacks
- Prepare and tidy the room
- Prepare materials for classroom activities - Help with festivals and celebrations - Participate in daily song and movement activities
- Assist children in bathroom and during nap time
- Knowledge/experience with Waldorf Education and Early Childhood

**Compensation & Amenities**

The Chicago Waldorf School offers a salary of $29,000, and excellent mentoring.
