As a Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for helping drive out future technologies, while helping to advance our current technologies. Provide thought leadership, influence peers in and outside of the department to help drive vendor and department relationships. Coach and mentor less experienced engineers, along with assigning and suggesting stretch assignments for the teams. Helps develop architecture of system designs, to meet current and future business needs. Ability to grow and learn current and emerging technologies in support of the digital workplace.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide thought leadership, influence peers in and outside of domain, vendor relationships, and organization vertical.
  • Architect solutions that take into account, availability, security, compliance, privacy and legal requirements.
  • Thoughtfully and practically introduce concepts and technologies from the industry to solve important problems.
  • Bring together the work of many teams and individuals into a cohesive, achievable plan that aligns with goals and deadlines.
  • Create solutions that are consistently successful across multiple dimensions, including performance, scalability, robustness and maintainability.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced engineers, along with assigning and suggest stretch assignments.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent training and experience.
  • 6-8 years of professional IT experience.
  • 6-8 years experience with at least one OS/hosting platform.
  • 6-8 years experience in performance tuning of application stacks, OSs, DBs etc.
  • 3 years experience with Cloud based PaaS and SaaS platforms and integration points to On Prem infrastructure.
  • 6-8 years experience with virtualization and containerization.
  • 6-8 years experience with monitoring and performance management of systems.
  • 6-8 years experience with Scripting development, networking, and Identity Platform and tools.
  • 6-8 years experience outside primary domain with concepts such as basic network troubleshooting (connectivity, DNS).
  • 6-8 years experience with modern development and scripting languages.
  • Experience with CICD concepts, and tools, branching strategies and leveraging knowledge to assist in delivering an infrastructure as a product.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills within area of expertise, and in adjacent domains.
  • Solid understanding of traditional or cloud computing technologies including Networking, Compute, Storage, Development, Data, Operations, or Security.
  • Experience creating, delivering and supporting highly available architectures.
  • Experience with multiple delivery methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
  • Experience with Jamf, Azure, Intune, Active Directory, Group Policy, Print Services, Vmware, Horizon, Software Distribution, SCCM
  • Experience with MAC, Windows, Mobile

Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start:

$100,030.00

Pay Range - End:

$185,770.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
