Position Summary: Environmental Services Aide provides clean, comfortable, orderly and satisfying environments for the patients, employees, and PN community. The Environmental Services Aide (ESA) promotes sanitary conditions which prevent the spread of infections. Physical Requirements: This position demands good physical and mental health. The Environmental Services Aide will be required to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, and work a flexible schedule, must be able to move continuously during work hours and able to lift and/or carry 50 to 100 pounds. Job Functions: Maintain facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition. Wet mop floors in all residents' rooms and bathrooms daily. Damp mop all corridor floors, lobby, dining areas, and others daily. Clean wash basins, mirrors, commodes, tubs, and showers daily. Clean up human waste and other body fluids, as required. Responsible for disposal of trash, waste, medical waste and other disposable materials. Must handle various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc. Follow instructions on use of germicidal solutions to clean. All procedures for chemical use will be part of the housekeeper's training. Must comply with all regulations such as OSHA, EPA, State Health Department, Joint Commission, etc. Cleans offices, nursing stations and empty trash containers daily. Clean all air vents. Report any needed repairs immediately to supervisor (such as leaky faucets or toilets, loose tile, broken window panes, missing nuts or screws, beds needing repair, etc.). Washes and /or dusts windows, screens, light fixtures, furniture ledges and walls. Completely strip and recoat all floor areas when necessary and as scheduled. Check areas/floors for water spills, snow etc. Operates various mechanized cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, polishers, buffers, etc. Vacuums, spot clean and shampoo rugs and carpeting Performance emergency clean-ups Strips patient beds Completes all required and mandatory Park Nicollet and departmental trainings Promotes effective working relations and work effectively as part of department/unit Must use EPIC to log-in and log-outs daily Education/Experience: Minimum Education/ Work Experience: Required - None Preferred: Equivalent to two years of high school Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment, supplies, computer and their related uses Able to communicate; read, and understand instructions Previous experience in housekeeping Supervision/Work Direction: ESA directly supervised by the ES Shift supervisor Machines/Equipment/Software Utilized: ESA position uses upright vacuum cleaners, floor sweepers, scrubbers, burnishes.
