Your Impact at SAM

The Business Development Director role is mainly responsible for leading and growing a high performing Business Development team who are tasked with building and cultivating relationships, as well as generating business with new and existing clients. This role also serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SUE, Surveying, and other SAM services in the Mid-Atlantic.

  • Lead the organization’s business development activities in order to achieve annual new business revenue and growth goals with a “hunter” mentality.
  • Grow SAM’s Business Development pipeline by cultivating new leads and relationships with potential clients.
  • Provide executive level consultation to clients on all aspects of their brand development needs and the services.
  • Work with Area Director to create and execute sales and performance plans.
  • Track and report on the status of the Business Development pipeline and sales activities using Salesforce.
  • Develop proposal approach/strategy based on the requirements outlined within an RFP. Work alongside other senior leadership and SME staff members to develop pitch strategy and pitch team.
  • Serve as a lead representative of SMEs at industry events and conferences.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to help accomplish the company’s strategic goals.

What You Bring to SAM

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 10+ years of experience selling to Transportation, Federal, and/or Utility clients.
  • Experience with Salesforce is preferred.
  • Proven track record of business development success with a robust network of industry connections.
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail, and organizational, interpersonal, and team-oriented skills.
  • Above average leadership, attention to detail, and organizational, interpersonal, and team-oriented skills.
  • Capable of working both individually and as a part of a very dynamic team of professionals.
  • Ability to perform several tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% regionally.
