Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Surgical Specialty Job Specialty: Post-Surgical Care Job Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night - 3x12 - 7 pm - 7 am Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours per Week Experience: Minimum of 1 year in acute care surgical floor experience; ENT and/or Transplant experience preferred License: Current RN License issued by the State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC) Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association Must-Have: Med Surg experience, ability to care for post-operative patients, new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGT or DHT, and step-down care experience. Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain good working relationships. Job Description: - Provide nursing care under general supervision in a hospital setting for patients with health issues ranging from simple to complex.- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients and document responses to interventions and treatments.- Assist physicians in examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.- Monitor physiological data and intervene when necessary.- Administer medications, initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.- Deliver competent patient care and interact with patients and families regarding care plans and hospital procedures.- Delegate tasks to support staff and make referrals to appropriate personnel when needed.- Perform other duties as assigned. Nurses in this role will care for post-operative patients, particularly with conditions such as new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGT, or DHT, and those requiring step-down care. Ratios can be 5:1 for surgical patients and 3:1 for step-down care area. It requires close monitoring for transplant patients for reaction, rejection, and infection. Strong organizational skills and the ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs are essential.
