DutiesWhat will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will serve as a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist within External Affairs at the Region 9 office in Oakland, CA.
Typical assignments include:Lead a full-spectrum team of specialists in areas such as strategy and planning, media relations, creative and digital services, governmental and community affairs, internal communication, and executive communicationProvide strategic advice to regional leaders and enhance regional program delivery through traditional and social media relations, photography, videography and creative servicesOversee executive communication products and manage staff and supervisors in a geographically diverse and dispersed regionSupervise two subordinate supervisors and a division of between 10-20 personnel during steady-state operationsForm disaster communication and engagement teams and may deploy as the external affairs officer or assistance external affairs officer on short notice for unknown periods of time, while maintaining all other division workWhat else do I need to know? To qualify for this position at the GS-15 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position.
