Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled External Affairs Manager to join our team at the County of Alameda. As a key member of our Assessor's Office, you will be responsible for developing and implementing external affairs programs to support our communication, public policy, and engagement efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement external affairs programs to support communication, public policy, and engagement efforts
  • Conduct analysis on legislative and policy studies to make recommendations and assist with implementation and proposed operational changes and programs
  • Plan, write, develop, coordinate, and direct the Department's fund development and grant management activities
  • Represent the Assessor's Office to external partners and members of the public
  • Perform related duties as required
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Four (4) years of full-time professional-level experience in communications, public policy, fund development, external affairs, and/or a related field
  • Two (2) years of the required experience must have been in a supervisory capacity
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Four (4) years of additional professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of departmental/agency programs and activities
  • Principles and techniques of grant writing, administrative, and legislative analysis
  • Information dissemination and marketing techniques
  • Computer applications and web-based communications
  • Principles and practices of supervision, training, and oversight
