Selects, trains, orients and assigns departmental staff. Coordinates orientation of new staff to ensure clinical competence. Assist with orientation of float and agency personnel. Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.# Performs Introductory Period Evaluation and the Annual Evaluation process as well as goal setting. Assists in holding staff accountable for hospital, nursing and unit policies and procedures, competencies and process improvement initiatives. Assists in the education and preparation of nursing staff for accreditation visits (IDPH # TJC). Coordinates unit-based staffing assignments on a shift by shift basis to achieve high quality and cost effective care. Responsible for (2) administrative/education days and (2) patient care days per week. Must be assigned to patient care (2) days week as part of the scheduled work week. # Job Requirements : BSN preferred Excellent communication skills including negotiation skills; must be persistent and persuasive. Must be able to establish rapport and effective working relationships with physicians and Staff.
