The Clinical Nursing Coordinator offers consultative, educational, and resource services to the nursing staff and interdisciplinary team, aiming to enhance clinical performance and ensure quality patient care outcomes.
This role involves assisting in the coordination of daily operations.Key Responsibilities:
- Acts as the Permanent Charge Nurse, implementing the care plan while adhering to the principles of the Licensed Registered Nurse curriculum, ensuring safety in practice, and documenting nursing interventions and patient responses.
- Assesses patient responses to the nursing care provided, documenting and communicating evaluation data to relevant healthcare team members, and contributing to the modification of the nursing care plan based on ongoing assessments.
- Responsible for selecting, training, orienting, and assigning departmental staff, while coordinating the orientation of new staff to ensure clinical competence. This includes assisting with the orientation of float and agency personnel.
- Develops performance standards, evaluates staff performance, and initiates or recommends personnel actions. Conducts Introductory Period Evaluations and Annual Evaluations, along with goal setting.
- Aids in holding staff accountable for adherence to hospital, nursing, and unit policies and procedures, competencies, and process improvement initiatives.
- Supports the education and preparation of nursing staff for accreditation visits.
- Coordinates unit-based staffing assignments on a shift-by-shift basis to achieve high-quality and cost-effective care.
- Responsible for maintaining (2) administrative/education days and (2) patient care days per week, with a requirement to engage in patient care for (2) days each week as part of the scheduled work week.
Qualifications:
- BSN preferred.
- Strong communication skills, including negotiation abilities; must demonstrate persistence and persuasiveness.
- Ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with physicians and staff.
- Proficient in prioritizing multiple responsibilities and managing a substantial workload within tight deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and self-motivation.
- Capable of independently planning, organizing, prioritizing, scheduling, coordinating, and making decisions related to assigned tasks.
- Strong customer service orientation, positive attitude, and a high degree of self-motivation and adaptability to change.
