Base salary starting at: $14.30 / hr

Essential Functions
• Visits with each patient to take their order, helping the patient follow the prescribed diet order.
• Assists with tray assembly, delivers trays to patients, and picks up trays.
• Records calorie count information and charts meal intake.
• Assists the kitchen as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience
• At least one (1) year food handling and customer service experience preferred.
• Previous experience in a healthcare or clinical setting preferred.

Credentials
• Must have current, valid BLS certification or must obtain within 60 days of hire and must maintain credential throughout employment with IMH.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to learn how to chart oral intake of meals in the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Ability to obtain Diet Orders and RSA reports from the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Ability to complete therapeutic diet training and attend monthly diet education in-services.
  • Knowledge of hospital therapeutic diet orders.
  • Ability to properly handle food based on ServSafe Guidelines.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including but not limited to: a friendly personality, tact, patience, empathy and a helpful, professional attitude both in person and on the telephone.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff, managers and the general public verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate effective listening skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills and ability to establish priorities effectively.
  • Possess exceptional problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively without immediate supervision.
  • Ability to learn new computer software programs.
  • Ability to recognize and protect confidential information.
  • Demonstrate ethical and legal accountability for the position
