POSITION SUMMARY:

The Donor Engagement Specialist is responsible for managing donor relationships through comprehensive donor research, effective gift management, and strategic stewardship efforts. This role involves identifying potential donors, ensuring accurate and timely processing of gifts, and maintaining ongoing communication with donors to strengthen their engagement and support.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Donor Research:

o Conduct thorough research on prospective donors to identify potential funding opportunities.

o Utilize various databases and tools to gather information on donor interests, giving history, and capacity.

o Compile donor profiles and reports to inform fundraising strategies.


· Gift Management:

o Oversee the accurate recording and processing of all donations in the donor management system.

o Generate and distribute acknowledgment letters and receipts in a timely manner.

o Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure proper allocation and reconciliation of funds.


· Stewardship:

o Develop and implement stewardship plans to enhance donor retention and satisfaction.

o Coordinate regular communication with donors through newsletters, impact reports, donor walls, and personalized updates.

o Plan and execute donor recognition events and activities to express appreciation and build relationships.


· Relationship Building:

o Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, responding to inquiries and providing exceptional customer service.

o Identify opportunities for increased donor engagement and involvement.

o Collaborate with the development team to align donor engagement efforts with organizational goals.

o Coordinates with Mission Advancement team for consistent contact with the most significant donors for contributions, event sponsorship, and event engagement


· Data Management and Reporting:

o Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.

o Analyze donor data to identify trends and opportunities for growth.

o Prepare regular reports on donor engagement activities and outcomes for branch and senior leadership.


· Support of the Advancement Team:

o Schedule meetings on behalf of the Chief Advancement Officer, Major Gifts Director and Grants Director.

o Support the team with agenda creation, note taking, and internal communication.

o Maintain the gift dashboard that reports monthly touchpoints, campaign progress, donor retention, and stewardship

o Manage the purchasing of branded materials for the department for events and giveaways

Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.


COMPENSATION:

$23.50/hr - $29.33/hr; Full Time (40 hours/week); Non-Exempt

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree (BA) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school in donor management, fundraising, or public relations; 3-5 years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Strong attention to details, care for others, oral and written skills, a strong sense of time management and the ability to exercise discretion. Proficient with customer relationship management (CRM) databases, with the ability to provide user training on software. Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages and lifestyles; YMCA or not for profit experience preferred.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

· Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within the first 60 days

· First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days

· Blood Borne Pathogen training

· State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)

TRAVEL:

5% of local travel within the West Michigan; occasional out-of-state travel may be required for educational conferences or training.
