Job Summary: The Community Outreach and Sales Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategies to increase community engagement, drive sales, and enhance the visibility of Bourbon Steak in New York City. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and a proven record of accomplishment in sales and community relations. The ideal candidate is proactive, personable, and deeply connected to the NYC community. This is a hybrid position: part time working remotely or in the community and part time on-site working events, conducting client meetings and walk-throughs, working with the management and host teams, and assisting as needed in the restaurant.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Outreach:

  • Develop and implement community outreach programs to promote Bourbon Steak, including but not limited to bi-weekly grassroots marketing with nearby hotel concierge teams, visiting nearby luxury condominium concierge/front office teams, connecting with larger businesses nearby.
  • Build strong relationships with Executive Assistants, meeting and convention planners, wedding planners and others who regularly book events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, businesses, community leaders, and influencers.
  • Become an active member of Convention & Visitors Bureau and other impactful organizations.
  • Represent Bourbon Steak at community events, meetings, and other public engagements. Act as a brand ambassador and be the face of Bourbon Steak and the go-to person for reservations, group business and events.
  • Network and engage with other Sales Managers within the area for cross-selling opportunities and creating a community of referrals.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for community partnerships and collaborations.

Sales Development:

  • Create and execute sales strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets.
  • Identify new business opportunities and cultivate relationships with potential clients and partners.
  • Receive and respond to all event leads from the JW Marriott Essex House sales team in a timely manner with a focus on upselling each lead.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities for growth.
  • Develop sales presentations, proposals, and contracts tailored to client needs.
  • Work closely with the General Manager to maximize reservations and bookings; ensure all revenue centers are active including bar and lounge, lunch parties, lunch a la carte, dinner business, private dining room, outdoor patio, late night (bar and lounge; using PDR as a speakeasy)
  • Continuously evaluate our group dining pricing to ensure we are competitive, but also attractive, to clients. Work with the JW Marriott team on menus and ensure we always have upselling opportunities, such as course add-ons, steak upgrades, cocktail tastings, and an updated wine list available.

Marketing and Promotion:

  • Work closely with the JW Marriott Essex House and the Mina Group marketing and events teams to develop promotional materials and campaigns that resonate with the community.
  • Use social media, email marketing, and other channels to engage with the community, promote events, and drive sales.
  • Closely monitor KPIs and report on the effectiveness of outreach and sales initiatives, providing insights and suggestions for improvement.

Client Relations:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for community partners and clients.
  • Drive the efforts in fostering repeat business, owning our VIP and Gold VIP lists, ensuring we have proper data on our important guests, building upon our existing database, and ensuring proper service and attention.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Gather feedback from clients and community members to inform future strategies.

Event Planning:

  • Plan and execute community events, workshops, and promotional activities (such as NY Food and Wine, NY Meals on Wheels, etc); be on-site at promotional events to coordinate and assist with execution.
  • Seek opportunities for offsite catering, including cater-outs for nearby businesses, private dinners in guests’ residences, offsite events including Bourbon Steak representation, etc.
  • Oversee event coordination, including scheduling, and staffing.
  • Ensure events align with the brand and mission of both the JW Marriott Essex House and Bourbon Steak.
  • Develop and execute other events within the restaurant to drive revenue and seek ways to activate our space outside of normal business hours and routine of business. For example: hosting business meetings in the private dining room to include a small buffet and non-alcoholic beverage service, possibly followed by a Happy Hour for the group; hosting industry wine and spirit tastings to garner fans and allies of Bourbon Steak and promote our space; hosting events at the restaurant in off hours, such as a special late lunch for a group or a special section for Happy Hour.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Both sales and operations experience, we are looking for someone who has not just sold events but also worked them
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in community outreach, sales, or related role
  • Experience in a high-end, guest-facing role; experience in fine dining a plus
  • Strong knowledge of the New York City community and its key stakeholders
  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful sales and outreach strategies
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, networking, and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with digital marketing tools and social media platforms
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, within the restaurant and during service with larger BEOs and important VIPs
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, a related field, or equivalent experience required
