Rebuilding Hope Sexual Assault Center is seeking to hire a passionate and capable individual to
serve as the Community Engagement Coordinator on our Development Team.


Rebuilding Hope Mission:
Provide support...promote healing...partner to end sexual violence.


Rebuilding Hope Vision:
We aspire to build communities that do not tolerate oppressive social norms, behaviors or systems
that promote sexual violence or exploitation. Communities where those who have been harmed are
believed and supported in pursuit of their individual paths of healing. Communities where sexual
violence does not exist, and their people are educated and empowered to center full choice, consent
and safety.


Nature of Work
Rebuilding Hope is seeking a full time Community Engagement Coordinator to advance our
fundraising and development efforts. In addition to general development-focused community
engagement on behalf of the agency, this position will have a heavy focus on major gifts and
fundraising campaigns including the 2024-2026 Capital Campaign.

Responsible to: Development Manager


Basic Functions: Community Outreach, Fundraising, Major Gifts, Capital Campaign Coordination
Location: Rebuilding Hope’s Tacoma Office - flexibility for remote and on-site facilitation of assigned
responsibilities. This employee must reside or plan to relocate to Pierce County, Kitsap County or
neighboring regions in Western Washington in order to report for work in-person as needed.


Position Type: Full-time Hourly, Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime pay)


Salary & Benefits: $31.25 - $34.13 per hour (DOE)


The agency pays 100% of premiums for health, dental, and vision care plans for full-time employees.
Full-time and part-time employees averaging at least 20 hours of work per week are eligible to access
supplemental insurance policies and services provided by Colonial Life. Rebuilding Hope also
provides a 2% contribution of eligible part-time and full-time employees’ salary to the Agency’s
SIMPLE IRA retirement plan. The Agency offers generous paid time off accrual rates for vacation,
sick, personal (floating) and 13 paid holidays. 


Timeline: Position will remain open until filled. Priority given to applications received by August 2,
2024.


Responsibilities


Primary Objective:


The Community Engagement Coordinator will support Rebuilding Hope’s development efforts through
effective community engagement, strategic relationship-building, and active participation in the
agency’s Fund Development Strategy including the 2024-2026 Capital Campaign. This role will focus
on cultivating major gifts, fostering community partnerships, supporting community events, and
advancing our mission to enhance support services for survivors of sexual assault and abuse in
Pierce and Kitsap counties.


Fundraising / Donor Relations:


1. Work with Development Manager to utilize the Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
database efficiently for effective event and campaign planning, donor communication,
acknowledgements, and solicitation.
2. Use CRM software to record all contacts with donors/potential donors and to set up a moves
management plan for key donors.
3. Use CRM software to prepare applicable reports as needed.
4. Implement all-donor stewardship best practices in collaboration with the Development
Manager towards engaging and retaining individual donors over time.
5. Work with the Development Manager to create and distribute mass-mailed print fundraising
appeals, newsletters, and event invitations.
6. Prepare and send all donor acknowledgement correspondence and year-end tax letters.
7. Work with the Development Manager to organize and implement fundraising campaigns
including the agency’s large-scale annual fundraising event, end of year giving campaign and
periodic community events.
8. Perform other tasks as directed by the Development Manager, Executive Director or other
designee.


Campaigns and Major Giving:


1. Support the development and execution of all annual fundraising campaigns.
2. Establish and grow meaningful long-term relationships with current and potential major donors.
3. Participate in and position/prepare Executive Director and Board Members for major gift
solicitations.
4. Collaborate with the Executive Director to steward and engage with current and potential
corporate sponsors and private/foundation funders.
5. Develop and manage campaign prospect lists, including research and tracking.
6. Recruit, train, and manage campaign volunteers as-needed.
7. Implement and support the Board of Directors’ donor cultivation program on a monthly basis,
providing all necessary materials and direction to members in order to build meaningful
relationships with key donors.

8. Help lead the strategy, development, planning and implementation of the ‘24-26 Capital

Campaign; working collaboratively with the Executive Director, Development Manager,
contracted capital campaign consulting firm, and the Capital Campaign Committee.


Public Relations


1. Know the organization and its work inside and out, being willing to call on and collaborate with
other staff members for information or support, especially in program-focused or
subject-matter conversations where you may not be the expert.
2. Be a primary storyteller; constantly look for and share stories of Rebuilding Hope’s work and
impact across the Pierce and Kitsap county communities.


Qualifications


1. Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in non-profit organizations with experience in direct
active solicitation of individual donors, grants, corporate support, and/or government funding
including state, federal, and municipal sources.
2. Preferred experience supporting one or more capital campaigns.
3. Proven ability to develop relationships with individuals and corporations that result in direct
philanthropic investment; experience in closing gifts of $10,000+ preferred.
4. Professional experience in trauma-informed and -responsive settings is desirable.
5. Completed college degree is desirable, but not required depending on cumulative experience
and skills.
6. Goal-directed self-starter with an accountable work ethic.
7. Ability to work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision, while achieving goals and
objectives.
8. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
9. Collaborative and consistent communication style.
10. Flexible nature and composed when under pressure.
11. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
12. Extremely proficient in computer use; comfortable learning new computer programs.


Other Requirements


1. You are motivated and inspired by our mission and vision.
2. This position is subject to upholding all policies and procedures at Rebuilding Hope.
3. Completing 30+ hours of OCVA-mandated sexual assault training (provided by Rebuilding
Hope); and
4. Attending scheduled Rebuilding Hope staff meetings and additional Rebuilding Hope staff
requirements, including staff retreats or internal staff training requirements; and
5. Prior to a hire offer being extended, candidates must pass a successful professional reference
check and an initial Washington State Patrol background check (at the agency’s initiation); and
6. Upon hire, the employee must be able to pass a multi-agency fingerprint background check (at
the agency’s expense and initiation); and
7. This employee will be required to complete a 90-day performance probationary period; and

8. This employee must be able to access their own reliable form of transportation as well as
possess a valid driver’s license and personal auto insurance to be approved for use of any
agency vehicle and to be eligible for mileage reimbursement for approved mileage.


Position Details:


This is a full-time, non-exempt position based out of Rebuilding Hope’s Tacoma office location while
spanning all of Pierce and Kitsap counties for applicable activities and events. Regular office hours
are 9am and 5pm Monday-Friday, but employees are offered the flexibility to design individual work
schedules that offer work-life balance in tandem with the essential needs of the agency and position.
Occasional weekend and evening work will be required for events. Rare instances of overnight travel
may be required. All necessary office equipment, furnishings, and supplies will be provided.
