About the Position

Tacoma Community College is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Laboratory Instructional Assistant to join our Science Programs team. As a key member of our instructional support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of our students by providing exceptional laboratory support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide instructional support services to the Science Programs, including preparing laboratory sessions, coordinating lab usage, and assisting faculty with laboratory activities.
  • Work closely with faculty and staff to support the instructional program in Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Set up and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, ensuring a safe and efficient learning environment.
  • Recommend equipment and supply purchases related to the instructional program, ensuring alignment with departmental needs.
  • Provide other forms of assistance to the science instructional program as needed, including coordinating laboratory activity schedules and maintaining laboratory organization.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a science-related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong academic background in biology and/or health and life sciences, including anatomy and physiology.
  • Experience working with chemicals in a laboratory setting and demonstrated knowledge of safe laboratory practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, stoop, bend, and lift up to 20 pounds, as well as climb and stand on step stools and small ladders for short periods.
