Job DescriptionJob Description Job Summary:

This position reports to the Director of Safety.  The Safety Manager develops, implements, and oversees the company's safety programs and policies to ensure a safe and healthy working environment. This role involves conducting risk assessments, training employees, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and Implement Safety Policies:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies in conjunction with the Director of Safety.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are up-to-date with current regulations.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement measures to reduce risks.

Training and Education:

  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees.
  • Promote safety awareness and educate staff on best practices.

Incident Investigation:

  • Investigate workplace accidents and incidents to determine causes.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent future incidents.

Compliance:

  • Ensure the organization complies with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Maintain records of safety inspections, audits, and compliance activities.

Emergency Preparedness:

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans.
  • Conduct regular drills and training for emergency situations.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with management and employees to create a culture of safety.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and contractors on safety matters.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated with industry best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives for safety practices.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years experience in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety management role.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other safety standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective training programs.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.
Physical Requirements:

The work requires routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds. Moving items over fifty pounds will be done using team lift. Must meet physical lifting requirements of 50 lbs.
