Position Overview
The Security Officer role at The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium is vital in ensuring a safe and secure environment for all stakeholders, including employees, patients, and visitors. This position is responsible for safeguarding property against various threats such as theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to medical emergencies and security alarms, coordinating with emergency services as necessary.
- Conduct regular patrols of the premises, monitoring buildings, grounds, and parking areas to ensure safety.
- Provide exceptional customer service, assisting visitors and patients while enforcing access control measures.
- Address safety violations and take appropriate action to manage hostile situations.
- Secure crime scenes and protect evidence as required.
- Administer first aid and Basic Life Support as a first responder when needed.
- Maintain accurate logs and incident reports in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the security team.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Understanding of the Alaska Tribal Health System and Alaska Native cultures.
- Familiarity with basic security principles and safety standards.
- Proficient in first aid and emergency response techniques.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Able to manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Capable of building cooperative relationships with colleagues and the community.
- Proficient in using computers and various software applications.
- Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and solve problems independently.
- Skilled in documenting observations and incidents accurately.
- Ability to work in a high-alert environment while maintaining safety.
Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or military service is preferred.
Certifications
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain insurability.
- Basic Life Support certification is required within six months of hire.
Additional Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old to perform specific security duties.
- Physical fitness is essential to handle emergency situations effectively.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as required.
