Under the guidance of the Occupational Medicine Medical Director and in collaboration with fellow Occupational Health Nurses, this role is pivotal in advancing the mission of Hilcorp to enhance the health and productivity of its workforce. The position serves as a crucial resource for health and disability management, providing comprehensive medical case oversight for employee leaves and facilitating their return to work. Additionally, it ensures adherence to DOT drug and alcohol regulations, aligning with the company's Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage medical case oversight for personal and occupational injury/illness leaves, including the return-to-work process and necessary documentation.
- Maintain health and medical records in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
- Support the management and compliance of drug testing programs, both DOT and non-DOT, including pre-employment and random testing.
- Assist in the development and delivery of drug and alcohol training programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers for onsite and offsite testing, including fitness for duty and regulatory assessments.
- Provide management reports on field drug testing activities.
- Oversee health assessments for DOT physicals and return-to-work requirements.
- Deliver nursing services and emergency first-aid to employees experiencing health issues or accidents on-site, ensuring appropriate care is arranged.
- Collaborate with management to implement health management initiatives, including health risk assessments and health education programs.
- Support the management of clinics, including coordination with third-party administrators and collaboration with Safety and Operations teams.
- Work closely with the Medical Director and team on employee medical matters affecting fitness for duty.
- Proactively address challenges that span organizational boundaries, fostering collaborative strategies.
- Engage as part of a multidisciplinary team to evaluate workplace safety and health concerns.
- Stay informed on professional and legislative developments related to occupational health and public safety.
- Uphold the company's core values of integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment, and innovation.
- Contribute to the company's vision and mission.
- Adhere to established work schedules and attendance standards.
- Collaborate with personnel and vendors to develop processes that ensure employee well-being, including onsite health initiatives.
- Willingness to travel to various locations as necessary to uphold company standards and policies.
- Enhance professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and networking within professional associations.
- Safeguard employee confidentiality and protect company assets by maintaining information security.
- Contribute to team objectives by achieving related outcomes as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in case management or related fields preferred.
- At least one (1) year of experience in occupational health preferred.
- Experience in an industrial setting is advantageous.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as HIPAA, ADA, OSHA, FMLA, and Workers Compensation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective active listening abilities.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent education preferred.
- Required: Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska (LVN, RN, or NP).
- Preferred:
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or Certified Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist (COHN-S) or case management certification.
- CPR certification.
- Certification from the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC).
- DOT-certified Drug Screen Collector certification.
