Position Summary

The Compliance & Utility Specialist is responsible for providing assistance to the Director of Compliance & Utilities Systems by supporting the management of any aspects related to licensing and permitting, utility management. Ex: billing, and analysis; insurance administration and claims management; private utilities systems documentation organization, and communications; and utility systems monitoring and reporting, while ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and objectives and representing the company’s core values.

Duties and Responsibilities

The qualified individual will work as an integral part of the Compliance division of the Operations Team to perform the following essential job functions:

  • Assist with tracking data in spreadsheets for compliance matters
  • Analyze monthly utility bills and communicate (and manage) any credit requests to utility companies
  • Provide support to community managers for utility related matters
  • Assist with license renewals and permit applications
  • Search for invoices in accounting software and extract data for analysis
  • Look up and extract water meter data by accessing an online tracking system
  • Provide recommendations for utility related matters
  • Communicate with the field staff for updates on incident reports, claims issues, and insurance matters as well as any utility issues
  • Utilize a variety of software systems and web based applications
  • Must work from Support Center a minimum of 3 days/week
  • Position may occasionally require flexible hours, nights, and weekends (as needed).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must maintain a valid driver license and clean driving record.
  • Computer skills required: Accounting Software; Contract Management Systems; Inventory Software; Microsoft Office Suite; Project Management Software
  • Must have reliable transportation to work
  • Must maintain an active and working personal mobile phone
  • Team oriented with a strong work ethic and outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills, problem solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with utility billing preferred

  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate
