Our Senior Commissioning Engineer is responsible for managing the commissioning process on projects within clearly defined budgets and schedules and is accountable for the final operation of the mechanical and automation systems. This role ensures appropriate operation of mechanical and controls systems on projects, as well as coordinates with both internal and external project team members. In addition, this role will provide commissioning and controls support to the Commissioning Engineers and Technicians. The Senior Commissioning Engineer is also responsible for leading, supporting, organizing, planning, and completing daily commissioning activities on multiple projects.

Senior Commissioning Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Review design drawings and specifications for mechanical and automation systems and provide feedback
  • Generate and update the Commissioning Plan on each project
  • Review project submittals and provide feedback
  • Setup and manage commissioning projects using BlueRithm commissioning software
  • Create functional performance tests for equipment and conduct functional testing of equipment by the installing contractor
  • Document and manage functional testing issue logs
  • Create Final Commissioning Reports on each project
  • Assist Commissioning Manager with team training, troubleshooting, testing, project support and onsite direction for other team members.

Senior Commissioning Engineer Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ building automation and/or commissioning experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge and first-hand experience of building automation systems, including but not limited to Niagara 4, Alerton, Automated Logic, Johnson Controls Metasys and Facility Explorer, Siemens and Schneider Controls, and mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of the construction and commissioning process for HVAC systems
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management and ability to prioritize
  • High level of Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and Word, Bluebeam, Procore, Smartsheet, On Screen Take-off, and BlueRithm or other commissioning software packages.
  • Good communication and leadership skills to be successful in a team-oriented, collaborative work environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or related field experience is preferred
  • Experience with K-12 or public sector construction is preferred

Physical Requirements (only listed on job roles that require something out of the normal office roles)

  • Ability to lift 20-pound tool and equipment bags.
  • Ability to safety climb ladders and move over uneven terrain as necessary to access facility equipment.
