The Utilities & Central Energy (UCE) division specializes in extensive central plant operations, particularly for district energy systems serving municipalities, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and industrial sites. Our expertise encompasses energy generation and distribution, sustainable energy solutions, combined heat and power systems, industrial HVAC, and medium voltage electrical systems. Our clients rely on us to manage complex projects from inception to completion, including startup, testing, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop engineering documentation and equipment specifications to align with project scope and ensure compliance with applicable codes.
  • Conduct engineering calculations and analyses.
  • Prepare cost estimates for assigned projects and ensure adherence to project scope.
  • Provide technical and engineering assistance to various departments and disciplines.
  • Review and approve final selections of utility systems and equipment, as well as drawing submissions.
  • Lead procurement efforts for utility systems and equipment.
  • Manage designated projects, ensuring timely completion.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives through proposal writing and client engagement.
  • Represent KFI at industry conferences, client events, and professional associations.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Fundamental understanding of Architectural, Electrical, Civil, and Structural Engineering practices.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer technologies and applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with Designers, Engineers, and Project Managers.
  • Experience with layout design and shop drawings.
  • A practical approach combined with a creative mindset to address client needs and solutions.
  • Excellent communication and persuasive skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Confidence and maturity to engage with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to synthesize diverse ideas and options into actionable recommendations.
  • Effective meeting facilitation skills.
  • Strong writing skills with experience in generating technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design of utility generation and distribution systems.
  • Ability to build rapport and credibility with clients and stakeholders.
  • Professional representation of the company.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit software.
  • Skilled in MS Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Willingness to travel domestically, up to 25% of the time.

Preferred:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification or intent to pursue certification.
  • Extensive experience in infrastructure projects and/or plant operations is highly desirable.

Working Conditions:
