About the Job

 

The Vice President (VP) of Finance and Accounting will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and be accountable for all accounting and finance operations within the company. The VP will lead a small team and play a crucial role in planning and successfully executing the company’s strategic initiatives.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

Financial Statement Preparation

Prepare monthly financial statements and submission packages.

Provide detailed analysis and commentary explaining significant variances in business performance on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis compared to budgeted and forecasted expectations.

Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting schedules for all General Ledger Balance Sheet Accounts.

Maintain the company’s General Ledger and General Journal.

Review monthly income and expense accounts for accuracy and reasonableness.

Ensure financial statements are prepared in compliance with US GAAP.

Ensure DCAA compliance.

Perform monthly bank reconciliations.

Assist with the corporation's year-end financial statement audit, including answering queries.

Coordinate with external auditors for interim and yearend audit activities as needed.

Manage timely and accurate tax filings for indirect and corporate taxes.

 

 Budgeting and Planning:


Assist in developing long-range business and financial forecasts, ensuring reasonable assumptions based on historical performance and future expectations.

Ensure the efficiency of expense activities within the company and provide a sufficient return on investment. Collaborate with the management team to identify additional cost efficiencies.

Compile, distribute, and manage the company’s budgets (P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow).

Prepare cash forecasts to ensure sufficient liquidity to fund company operations.

Present budgets and forecasts for the company.

Analyze results, clearly representing actual performance, plans, risks, and opportunities for growth and efficiency improvements.

 

 Business Management:


Advise the CEO and division managers on business performance and potential opportunities.

Develop and implement procedures to enhance company efficiency, ensuring alignment with customer requirements.

Present financial perspectives on critical decisions to the executive and management teams.

 

 Internal Control:


Maintain a robust internal control structure and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal requirements.

Safeguard company assets (Fixed Assets).

 

Financial Operations:


Review and authorize check disbursements.

Manage the accounts payable team and ensure their processes and procedures have adequate internal controls.

Oversee the accounts receivable team to ensure high collectability of sales made on credit terms. Supervise bank deposits, collections, and the appropriate application of cash collections, ensuring adequate internal controls.

Education and Experience Requirements:


 Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent.

 CPA and MBA are highly preferred.

 A minimum of five to ten years of experience in accounting with demonstrated career progression.

 Strong knowledge of GAAP and DCAA accounting principles.

 Experience in budgeting, financial planning and analysis, and financial modeling.

 Strong leadership skills with at least three years of management experience.

 Excellent executive presence, strong work ethic, and superior communication skills required.

 Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, sophisticated reporting environment.
