Business Development Representative- Government

Johnstone Supply is looking for a driven, ambitious, and results-oriented individual to join our team as a Business Development Rep. specializing in government and institutional contracts. You will be the front line of our sales strategy, identifying opportunities, and connecting with potential clients. RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the Business Development Rep include, but are not limited to:
Lead Generation and Prospecting
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities within state and local government facilities
- Research government agencies, departments, and available contracts to align company offerings with their needs
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers, and influencers within the government facilities
- Attend government briefings, and networking functions to enhance company visibility and relationships
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop competitive proposals and bids
- Ensure all proposals meet government requirements and regulations
Market Analysis
- Do market research to understand government processes, patterns, and upcoming opportunities
- Create marketing plans and customer presentations/proposals to maximize sales
- Keep an eye on competitor activities and identify potential advantages for the company
- Ensure all activities and proposals comply with federal, state, and local regulations
- Maintain accurate records of all business development activities and opportunities in the company’s CRM system
- Report regularly on progress, forecasts, and challenges

Required
- College degree in Business, Marketing, Public Administration, or a related field
- Strong understanding of government processes and regulations
- Minimum of five years of experience in business development, sales, or similar role
- Proficiency in CRM software, and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel as needed to meet with government clients and attended events
- Experience with federal, state, and local government contracting
- Established network of government contracting regulation
- Background in B2B sales
