DESIGN PROJECT ENGINEER I

The Design Project Engineer I will be responsible for leading and managing projects in various sectors, such as transportation planning, design, or program management. This individual will oversee interdisciplinary teams, apply advanced technical expertise, and utilize project management skills to ensure high-quality deliverables are produced in a timely manner. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of the engineering field and the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers. Performs additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Project & Program Coordination: Assists in managing and executing projects/Programs from conception to completion, including estimating costs, personnel and material needs, and establishing project schedules. Maintains effective communication with the project team and stakeholders to ensure project success. Draft and submit proposals for transportation projects.

  1. Project Leadership Support: Ability to manage small projects and lead with assistance a team of engineers, including providing direction. Providing mentorship for staff, reviewing and approving submittals, coordinating and documenting meetings, and marketing the company.

  1. Design Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in CAD, preparing, reading, and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and estimates of cost. Proficient with various standards and codes such as AASHTO and DOT standards.

  1. Risk Mitigation: Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, and to implement contingency plans as needed to ensure successful project completion.
