Position Overview

The Field Engineer I-II is essential in facilitating Navy drydock and shipyard military construction (MILCON) initiatives, operating independently under the guidance of a Project Manager. This role encompasses aiding in the development of submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs), organizing work schedules with contractors or subcontractors, and participating in estimating, contracting, and procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the preparation and management of project documentation, ensuring compliance with contract specifications and engineering standards.
  2. Coordinate with contractors and project teams to ensure smooth execution of construction activities.
  3. Engage in on-site inspections and testing to verify adherence to quality and safety standards.
  4. Support material testing and compliance to ensure project specifications are met.
  5. Utilize software tools such as Excel, Smartsheets, Aconex, Fieldwire, Bluebeam, and potentially P6 for project management and documentation.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Proven knowledge of construction project management principles, including planning and scheduling.
  2. Experience in managing project teams and supporting construction activities.
  3. Understanding of construction cost management and contract administration.
  4. Familiarity with safety regulations and the ability to enforce compliance on-site.
  5. Ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with construction projects.
  6. Experience in dredging, harbors, shipyards, or military construction projects is highly valued.
