OVERVIEW

The Development Operations Associate position supports the growth and operations of the Development team at USCRI headquarters and is responsible for conducting prospect research, analyzing funding opportunities, and providing support with grant proposals. The role will also provide administrative support to the team with organizing meetings, donor interactions, and help with data analysis, and refining/organizing development team processes and donor records.

The ideal candidate will be flexible with strong interpersonal skills, open to taking on varied responsibilities, and a self-starter. The position reports to the VP of Strategic Development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct prospect research for national, international, and local foundations, corporations, and US government opportunities, using all tools available
  • Analyze funding opportunities to assess whether they meet USCRI’s priorities and make recommendations to the Grants and Partnerships team and Development Associates at Field Offices
  • Provide support with managing and editing grant proposals, working closely with the Associate Director of Grants and Partnerships and/or Development Associates at Field Offices along with Program and Finance staff
  • Support the Development Associate – Donor Services and Engagement on CRM data entry and analysis for foundation, government revenue, and donor reports.
  • Review existing processes, standard operating procedures, and organization of Development team records; make recommendations to improve, organize, and streamline as needed
  • Provide administrative support to the Development team in organizing meetings, thanking and interacting with institutional donors, and creating presentations for the Executive Team or Board of Directors
  • Contribute additional fundraising and operations support to the development team as needed, reporting to the VP of Strategic Development

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Commitment to the mission of USCRI and interest in growing in a nonprofit development department long-term
  • Highly organized and uniquely detail-oriented; must be highly flexible and able to keep multiple assignments moving forward
  • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills, with a focus on effective communication
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Experience with MS Office and CRM systems and/or similar databases
  • Bachelor’s degree required with 4+ years of relevant work experience in fundraising, including grant writing and foundation relationship building; US government grant experience a plus.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training.
  • Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
  • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
  • Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
