Job Description

Position Summary

The Regulatory and Sustainability Expert, Product Sustainability is a subject matter expert (SME) who is responsible for driving Assent’s objective of being a market leading software and services solution for a wide variety of customers and industries. This role requires a highly knowledgeable regulatory and product sustainability subject matter expert and visionary for the development of best practices, whilst constantly influencing existing solutions. This role will work closely with internal teams as well as external stakeholders to provide expertise and guidance that support Assent’s value proposition and business goals.

Key Requirements & Responsibilities 

  • Be a leading voice in the ongoing evolution of Assent’s solution including driving the establishment of market best practices or recommending the adoption of existing best practices that complement and enhance the Assent Compliance SaaS Platform by articulating regulatory compliance market, customer and industry perspectives;

  • Specific attention to regulatory and industry objectives for product sustainability programs (e.g., environmental compliance, PFAS, RoHS, REACH, Prop 65, TSCA, other materials compliance, LCA, Environmental Product Declarations, sustainable product initiatives, etc);

  • Provide support for customer engagements (either direct engagement or through Customer Success teams) related to product sustainability;

  • Support trade associations engagement by influencing and contributing to working groups, building relationships, developing/updating standards, and supporting their events as a thought leader;

  • Demonstrate thought leadership and support Assent’s brand recognition as a trusted advisor by collaborating with marketing teams to produce external facing materials such as blog posts, white papers, webinars and sales enablement;

  • Provide ongoing expertise and guidance to internal and external stakeholders including prospective customers to inform and support compliance efforts and goals;

  • Support training programs and educational initiatives related to product sustainability;

  • Keep abreast of regulatory and industry-led developments and trends through ongoing research, and organize regulatory and industry best practices with the Product Management team;

 

Qualifications

Your Knowledge, Skills and Abilitie

  • 12+ years practical experience related to product sustainability, environmental product compliance, design for compliance, materials/substances compliance, chemistry, circular economy, product stewardship, LCA or similar OR  practical experience managing aspects of compliance in a large manufacturing enterprise, and/or advisory roles related to risk consulting, trade association policy, or similar;

  • Relevant post-secondary degree in Sustainability, Environmental Law, Design for Environment, Engineering, or similar field;

  • Prior background as a consultant or in an advisory capacity that has been responsible for revenue generation is considered beneficial;

  • Proven track record in a public speaking capacity with the ability to drive and manage conversations that support sales opportunities and activities;

  • Strong knowledge of software solutions (e.g. Assent, SAP, SAP EHS, iPoint, Greensoft, BOMcheck, CDX, IMDS, Ecovadis, SupplyShift, IntegrityNext, etc);

  • Competency in Product Sustainability Standards (e.g. IEC, IPC, ISO, etc) and industry specific reporting requirements;

  • Experience managing strategic regulatory programs in a multinational organization who produces durable professional goods;

  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills - you are engaging, professional and knowledgeable, with the ability to adapt your communication to your audience;

  • Trusted and credible subject matter expert and advisor, with strong collaboration and  influencing skills;

  • Strategic and business-minded - able to adapt to and help shape improvements to systems and processes driving Assent towards continuous improvement;

  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing projects and meeting deadlines;

  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally to represent Assent Compliance at industry events and customer meetings;
