Domestic Violence - Community Services Advocate

Salary: Starting at $17.00/hour

Our comprehensive services include emergency shelter, court injunctions, and a 24/7 domestic abuse hotline.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVOCATE

As a Domestic Violence Community Services Advocate, you will play a crucial role in supporting survivors through a range of services and support mechanisms, including:

  • Providing direct assistance and case management to survivors of domestic violence.
  • Collaborating with survivors to identify their needs, set achievable goals, and develop personalized service plans.
  • Conducting lethality assessments, offering crisis counseling, and facilitating support and life skills groups.
  • Advocating for and assisting survivors with access to legal, financial, medical, mental health, educational, employment, housing, and other vital social services.
  • Coordinating referrals to community service providers to help survivors achieve their service plan goals.
  • Following up to assess progress and determine additional assistance needs.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation to meet compliance requirements.
  • Working closely with community services advocates and legal partners to ensure comprehensive service coordination.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS

  • A degree in social work, counseling, or a related field OR relevant professional experience.
  • Strong crisis intervention skills and the ability to provide immediate support to survivors.
  • Experience in facilitating support groups.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other database software.
  • Commitment to completing CORE competency training within 30 days of hire.
  • A valid Florida driver's license and insurable driving record.
