We have an opening for a Night Shift Human Resources Supervisor/Generalist.


Summary

Supervises 2nd shift human resources clerks and timekeepers. Act as liaison between employees and management on human resource issues. Assist in ensuring compliance with company policies as well as local, state, and federal employment law. Communicate with management and others openly and effectively. Assists in supporting the hiring office with recruiting needs and strategic planning as needed.


Essential Duties and responsibilities

· Provides critical data support for the payroll and HRIS system. Ensures timely and accurate data entry.

· Resolves employee requests, complaints, and problems courteously and promptly. Counsels employees and managers concerning job-related matters.

· Support continuous improvement initiatives. Documents current processes and procedures and leads the effort to maintain and create processes that support the business and department.

· Assists in administering benefits programs. Communicates related information to employees.

· Assists in developing and implementing human resource operations plans, policies, procedures, and goals. Recommends improvements as appropriate.

· Assists in recruiting, screening, interviewing and performing reference and background checks on potential employees. Working with hiring managers, extend employment offers.

· Assists in management of WC return to work program, investigations and reporting claims. Helps lead and drive safety initiatives and programs.

· Assists in conducting new employee orientations, and ensures associates are well informed of human resource policies and programs; off boarding of exiting employees.

· Assumes responsibility for the accurate, complete, and timely preparation of records, reports, and other documents.

· Leads positive employee relations efforts.

· Assists with the performance evaluation program.

· Provides support for career development/training programs for lead and supervisor positions.

· Provides leadership and partnership on other HR related projects as needed.

· Stays abreast of developments in human resources and related legal requirements.

· Supervise the work of hourly 2nd shift HR employees.

· Represent the company on various community relations and other activities.

· Represent the department on in-house committees and project groups.

· Other duties as assigned.


Cross Training:

Perform some duties of the Human Resources Manager, Human Resources Clerk and Timekeepers in the absence of any. Cross trained to perform some duties of Hiring and Benefits.


Other:

Attend training classes and seminars as needed or assigned.

Receive written and verbal instruction on above job tasks and perform other work as needed or assigned.

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and sense of urgency, with the ability to work in a fast paced environment. Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills required; must be able to prioritize tasks and to delegate when appropriate; must hold a high regard for confidentiality, integrity, professionalism; must be proficient with MS Office systems such as Word, Excel, and Power Point. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.


Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and/or relevant work experience required. A minimum of 3 years’ human resources generalist experience required. Prior experience with manufacturing preferred. PHR preferred.

Personal Computer with E-mail, Color Scanner, Telephone with Voicemail, Copy Machine, Two-Way Radio, Badge Making Equipment, Fax Machine, Time Clocks, Calculator, and Company vehicle on occasion.

Human Resources Manager


V. WORKING CONDITIONS:

Usual office working conditions. Some exposure to plant environment while performing maintenance on timeclocks. Job requires long hours and workweeks during peak green cucumber intake season.


VI. OTHER

Access to CONFIDENTIAL DATA (such as wages, employee records, labor cost reports, etc.) Significant contacts with Supervisory Personnel, Information Technology Employees, Timekeepers, Lead People and Outside Visitors. Job requires 2 years of college, excellent computer skills and knowledge of various software programs. Friendly and professional manner required for public contacts. HR Professional Certification preferred.

Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists. hands and/or fingers.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform and activity such as: preparing and analyzing data figures: transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
