Under the direction of the Patient Support Services Manager, the Patient Support Specialist often serves as the first touch point for Blackbird Health patients. As such, they are primarily responsible for engaging and activating patients to support them in receiving the care they need. Patient Support Specialists are seen as a trusted partner to our patients, guiding them through their journey to better mental health. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct daily telephonic outreach to patients and families to answer questions about Blackbird Health services
  • Field inbound calls from prospective and existing patients ensuring their questions are answered in a timely manner, including directing calls to appropriate team members
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, including sending reminders
  • Support patients and families with necessary paperwork, including medical histories and other information to ensure they are matched with the right level of care
  • Connect with individuals and understand their medical experience to determine eligibility and appropriateness for participation in Blackbird Health Services
  • Perform various clerical or administrative functions, such as collecting copays and validating insurance coverage
  • Compile medical records and reports to support high-quality patient care and integration with referring providers; Receive and route messages or documents, such as laboratory results, to appropriate team members
  • Operate office equipment, such as voice mail messaging systems, and use word processing, spreadsheet, or other software applications to prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, case histories, or medical records
  • Attend team meetings to support organizational success and participate in ongoing training required by organization to enhance clinical skills and ensure high quality services are delivered
  • Able to independently problem solve and organize time to consistently achieve productivity and quality standards for role

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some College Courses or an Associates degree
  • Experience in a medical office
  • Telephonic outreach experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Passion for helping others
  • Available to work up to 3 days a week from our North Wales, PA clinic. The remainder of your week can be performed remotely
  • Works efficiently, and is able to maintain the daily/monthly volume of work consistently
  • Ability to connect with and engage people from diverse backgrounds, experiences, cultures
  • Genuine, empathic, listening skills
  • Eagerness to work in an environment that values ongoing learning and growth
  • Excellent time management, strong self-organization, confidence, and independence
  • Excitement to work in a growing, mission driven organization

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in mental healthcare
  • Familiarity with Google Suite
