Job Description: Desktop Support Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Desktop Support Specialist to join our IT team in the Boston area. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional technical support to our staff, ensuring efficient and smooth operation of desktop environments, hardware, and software applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for desktop computers, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other peripheral equipment.
  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software applications.
  • Respond to and resolve support tickets in a timely manner.
  • Assist with network connectivity issues, including LAN/WAN and wireless.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and updates on desktops and laptops.
  • Create and manage user accounts and permissions.
  • Ensure data security and backup protocols are followed.
  • Provide end-user training and support for software and hardware usage.
  • Document support activities, solutions, and create knowledge base articles.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices.

Key Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and configurations (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Customer-focused attitude and a commitment to providing high-quality service.

Required Certifications:

  • CompTIA A+
  • Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
  • Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) (preferred)
  • ITIL Foundation Certification (preferred)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a desktop support or similar role.
  • Experience with remote support tools and technologies.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with virtual desktop environments (e.g., VMware, Citrix) is a plus.
