Job Purpose:

Perform day-to-day general accounting functions to various areas of the Accounting Department under general supervision. Provide accurate and timely reporting of financial information, maintaining adherence to generally accepted accounting principles and ensuring compliance with established internal controls.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with monthly closing activities and general Ledger accounts reconciliation.
  • Assist with daily banking and treasury functions.
  • Assist with preparation of the consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Work closely with industrial engineers to maintain daily product costing in SAP and to ensure accuracy of product costing.
  • Assist with sales and use tax filings.
  • Assist with filing of business licenses and annual reports in various states.
  • Prepare accounting and analytical reports as assigned.
  • Prepare financial closing journal entries as required.
  • Participate in accounting functions in different areas such as AR, AP, GL, inventory, costing.
  • Participate in annual physical inventory process.
  • Assist in testing accounting requirements due to newly issued accounting guidelines and newly implemented SAP functionalities.
  • Participate in General Ledger account validations to maintain data accuracy.
  • Assist other accounting team members and outside auditors with quarterly and year-end audit and prepare audit schedules as assigned.
  • Participate with SOX documentation and internal controls compliance.
  • Assist the corporate reporting team for quarterly and annual SEC filings required for public company.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with coworkers, vendors and external auditors.
  • Cross-train counterparts (to/from) to continue personal and professional development.
  • Must be flexible to perform other duties and special projects as assigned and requested.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a 4-year college degree in accounting and/or Finance plus 2 years of experience in general accounting, financial reporting, and auditing.
  • Solid knowledge of double entry accounting is mandatory.
  • Must be proficient in systems and appropriate applications. General knowledge of all areas of accounting.
  • Must possess good mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Must have knowledge and proficient use of applicable office-related equipment.
  • Proficient computer skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook) and the ability to learn new software programs.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to solve problems, adhere to deadlines and give timely response to other areas of management when requested.
  • Must have excellent team skills, be flexible, and be able to meet and maintain performance standards.
  • Must display the applicable level of “Job-Critical Skills”: communications, judgment/decision making, safety, quality of work, initiative, teamwork, flexibility, leadership, service, motivation, planning/organizing, and job knowledge/skills development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in SAP and advanced excel skills is a big plus.

Physical Requirements:

Will require the ability to sit at desk as needed up to 75% or more of the work hours and the ability to lift as needed a minimum of 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Must wear applicable and proper protective equipment including, but not limited to, protective eye and/or hearing equipment while in the production/distribution floor environment. Must be able to adjust to applicable environmental conditions, to include changes in temperature. May occasionally be exposed to chemicals, heat, cold, dust, and/or other operational conditions. Must be able to bend, stoop, sit, walk, ascend/descend stairs, lift, possess applicable visual capabilities, and work within subscribed environmental standards, as appropriate, to meet the specific physical, administrative and management responsibilities for the role.
