Location: Temple, Texas

Shifts Available: Nights

Shift Hours: 12-hour shifts

Shift Per Week: 3 shifts (36 hours per week)

Salary Range: $32.00 - $53.00 per hour


Job Description:


We are seeking an experienced and compassionate RN Supervisor to lead our Pediatric Med Surg Unit. In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the unit, providing supervision to nursing and unit-based personnel to create a safe, caring environment for patients, families, and staff. As a key leader in the department, you will collaborate closely with the Nursing Manager to plan, develop, implement, evaluate, and monitor policies, procedures, budgets, and resources to achieve departmental and organizational goals. This role requires a strong commitment to fostering professional nursing practice, shared decision-making, and inter-professional teamwork.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Clinical Judgment: Foster a healthy work environment that supports evidence-based practice and research. Coordinate patient care with the inter-professional team, ensuring the provision of safe, cost-effective, and efficient care tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Clinical Inquiry: Systematically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, facilitating practice changes through quality improvement initiatives and the use of best, evidence-based practices.
  • Caring Practices: Create and sustain a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff. Coordinate patient care conferences and inter-professional rounds to address patient and family needs.
  • Response to Diversity: Address issues arising from individual differences and develop awareness of these issues in nursing staff and other healthcare providers.
  • Advocacy and Moral Agency: Advocate on behalf of nursing staff and patients to ensure ethical practice and optimal communication, teamwork, and coordination of care.
  • Facilitation of Learning: Monitor the learning needs of staff and patients/families, and assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of educational activities. Facilitate staff professional and personal growth through role modeling, teaching, and mentoring.
  • Collaboration: Lead and mentor nursing staff in professional leadership and accountability within the inter-professional healthcare team. Collaborate with medical, allied health, and administrative staff to ensure the provision of safe, quality, compassionate care.
  • Systems Thinking: Respond to issues, concerns, and suggestions from staff and patients. Allocate resources efficiently, assist in staffing planning, and contribute to the development of departmental goals.
  • Professionalism: Promote shared governance and decision-making processes. Commit to life-long learning for self and staff, and contribute to the professional development of peers and colleagues.


Key Success Factors:


  • Strong understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations; standards and guidelines of certifying and accrediting bodies; and hospital and department/unit protocols.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, health promotion, disease prevention, and management.
  • Adherence to medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to make operational decisions and manage resources effectively.
  • General computer skills, including Microsoft Office, electronic medical documentation, and scheduling systems.

Qualifications:


  • Education: Associate's degree in Nursing required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Certification/Licensure:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
