POSITION OVERVIEW

The Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor is responsible for the management and oversight of nursing staff and unit operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring a secure and nurturing atmosphere for patients, families, and healthcare personnel, while fostering professional nursing practices, teamwork, and collaboration to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

The Supervisor is tasked with managing day-to-day operations, aiding in the formulation, development, and assessment of policies and procedures, budget management, resource allocation, quality enhancement initiatives, educational programming, and governance councils to meet departmental objectives.

This role is particularly suited for nursing supervisors in hospital inpatient and outpatient settings that require 24/7 staffing, including on-call responsibilities during off hours.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clinical Oversight: Directs personnel to deliver safe and effective care tailored to individual patient requirements. Ensures staff proficiency and promotes evidence-based practices.
  • Quality Assessment: Reviews the quality of nursing practices, facilitates changes in practice, and engages in clinical research.
  • Compassionate Care: Fosters a caring environment for both patients and staff, aids in patient care coordination, and encourages best practices.
  • Diversity Awareness: Enhances understanding of individual differences, provides age-appropriate patient care, and mediates conflicts impacting performance.

  • Educational Development: Identifies educational needs, designs training activities, and supports the professional advancement of staff.
