Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor to lead our Oncology Acute Care Unit. In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care to oncology patients. You will work closely with the Nursing Manager to develop and implement policies, manage budgets, and ensure that staff are providing care that meets the highest standards. This position is ideal for a nurse leader who is passionate about oncology care and dedicated to improving patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise assigned nursing and unit-based personnel to maintain a safe, caring environment for patients, families, and staff.
- Collaborate with inter-professional team members to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Oversee the daily operations and productivity of the unit, ensuring that care is provided efficiently and effectively.
- Assist the Nursing Manager in developing, implementing, and evaluating departmental policies, procedures, and budgets.
- Provide nursing care as needed and ensure that staff maintain competency based on standards of practice for the patient population.
- Facilitate practice changes among nursing staff through quality and performance improvement initiatives and the use of evidence-based practices.
- Foster a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff.
- Mentor and coach nursing staff to develop clinical and leadership expertise, and assist in the development of the department's succession plan.
- Participate in departmental and organizational programs, committees, and special projects to achieve desired outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations, as well as standards and guidelines of certifying and accrediting bodies.
Key Success Factors:
- Strong understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures, particularly in oncology care.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and hospital policies governing the provision of nursing care.
- Ability to make operational decisions and manage resources effectively to meet schedules and goals.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to lead and mentor a team.
- Ability to evaluate and recommend changes to policies and procedures to improve patient care and unit operations.
- Proficiency with general computer skills, including Microsoft Office, electronic medical documentation, and scheduling systems.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a nursing role, with a focus on oncology care.
- Active and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer.
