Dynacast, LLC, a Form Technologies Company, is a leading global manufacturer of small, engineered precision components utilizing proprietary multi-slide die casting technology and tooling techniques. We currently have an opening for a Tool Maker on second shift in our Lake Forest, CA location.

Controls Technician

The Controls Technician supports all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery. Is responsible for the support of the plants automated cells including robots, controls and vision systems. Will work with plant personnel to keep machinery running and perform other tasks as required.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support manufacturing facility's Controls, Electrical, and automation needs
  • Diagnose technical issues with mechanical assembly, computer control, sensors, actuators and other robotic equipment toward effective issue resolution and feedback for future issue prevention
  • Correct technical issues with machines, whether mechanical, electrical, programmatic or sensor driven
  • Program and/or troubleshoot PLC's (Programmable logic controllers)
  • Program automated cells and vision systems
  • Program, service, repair, and maintain instrumentation, electrical, and process controls.
  • Write, review, and give input to engineering specifications for new and existing equipment when needed.
  • Integrate automation, including robots and vision systems, into die casting cells

Job Qualifications

  • Read and understand drawings and schematics.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with a minimum of 4 years of experience in an Automation role
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and ladder logic diagrams.
  • Experience in PLC logic programming and corresponding hardware
  • Experience with camera inspection systems (Keyence)
  • Experience programming industrial robots (Fanuc, ABB)
  • Understanding general construction of an electrical and controls cabinet
  • Experience troubleshooting controls as well as electrical and mechanical issues
  • Die casting experience is an asset
  • Ability to work offshift.

Education and Experience requirements

  • Associate degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent preferred
  • Five (5) years prior work experience in electro-mechanical automated/robotic equipment in a manufacturing environment required with build, repair, test, install and maintenance experience highly preferred.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
