Our client, a philanthropic institute, is seeking a Communications Manager to support their team This role requires strong organizational, communication, and research skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve communication objectives.


Job Details:

  • Title: Communications Manager
  • Type: Contract to Hire
  • Length: Indefinite
  • Location: NW Washington, DC – Hybrid
  • Rate: $30/hr-$35/hr
  • Background Check: Will be run upon offer


Candidate profile and qualifications:

  • Experience: 5-7 years of communications experience, ideally within a non-profit setting
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Familiarity with IOS/Mac, AP Style writing, In-house style guides
  • Soft Skills: Attention to detail; proactive
  • Education: BA/BS required; Masters degree preferred
  • Proof of vaccination against Covid-19: Required


Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies.
  • Write, edit, and distribute content, including website updates, social media posts, newsletters, digital marketing campaigns, presentations, press releases, media advisories, post releases, etc.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with media, influencers, and other stakeholders.
  • Respond to communication-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Support event- style communication and report on media coverage related to events.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal communications to ensure that all relevant company functions are kept informed of marketing objectives.
  • Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy.
