KVC Kentucky Assessment & Support Specialist/Social Workers are responsible for completing assessment of child abuse and neglect in families referred by the Department for Community Based Services.


- Assessment & Support Social Workers will utilize evidence-informed tools to assess safety, identify risks, and provide services, as needed, to improve each child’s safety, permanency, and well-being.-Assessment & Support Social Workers will present assessment findings to KVC leadership and designated DCBS staff in order to actively engage in joint decision-making process.


Education needed for the Assessment & Support Social Workers


Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work (or closely related human services field) and have availability to maintain a flexible work schedule necessary to meet family and agency needs.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Direct Service Provision

  1. Complete investigations in compliance with KVC and DCBS policy and regulations

  1. Utilize evidence-informed tools to identify and address safety risks in referred children’s home environments

  1. Engage identified caregivers in process of developing a case plan to address identified risks and family needs

  1. Conduct home visits at the intensity and frequency necessary to regularly assess child and family safety

  1. Participate in case conferences with supervisors and DCBS personnel to communicate assessment findings and recommendations

  1. Connect families to community partners and resources through referrals, as needed, to improve caregiver capacity and assist families meet case plan goals and objectives

  1. Participate in team meetings to collaborate with family and treatment team, assist in the development of treatment goals, and monitor progress toward goal achievement

  1. Maintain communication with services providers to confirm family’s participation in services and progress toward identified goals

  1. Collaborate with wraparound supports and agencies via verbal and written communication and actively participate in joint meetings, as needed

  1. Attend weekly team case conferences to consult and enhance outcomes of services delivered to families

  1. Regularly travel throughout the region in order to participate in home visits and community partner contacts, occasionally travel out of region for trainings and other meetings

  1. Maintain flexible work schedule based on needs and availability of clients. Work time may include evenings and weekends

  1. Participate in on-call rotation to facilitate availability of a provider to family 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.

  1. Continuing Education, Supervision, & Professional Development

  1. Create an Individual Learning Plan with Supervisor to identify required and needed areas of training in addition to areas of interest to enhance service delivery to families

  1. Attend meetings, seminars, and other educational functions of the agency as identified by supervisor.

  1. Participate in appropriate supervision as required by program guidelines and licensing board.

  1. Obtain 40 CEUs per year, including 20 by June 30

  1. Complete assigned Relias Learning courses by specified deadlines
