Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in providing safe and effective dialysis treatment for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Prepare, test, and operate dialysis machines for patient procedures.
  • Record and document essential pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weights for each patient.
  • Assess vascular access prior to treatment and perform necessary cannulation.
  • Identify and address intradialytic issues as directed by physician orders.
  • Monitor patient responses during dialysis therapy.
  • Evaluate patients before concluding venous access and discontinue treatment according to established protocols.
  • Communicate significant changes in patient conditions to the supervisor.
  • Accurately enter all treatment data into the designated clinical application.
  • Collect, label, and prepare lab samples in accordance with laboratory standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dialysis machines and surrounding areas between treatments.
  • Support other healthcare team members in providing patient education.
  • Organize and utilize supplies and equipment efficiently to minimize waste.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. is required.

  • Dependable, compassionate, caring, supportive, collaborative, and reliable.
  • Previous experience in patient care within a healthcare setting is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of the Fresenius Medical Care dialysis training program and CPR certification.

  • Daily responsibilities include desk work, computer use, and interaction with patients and healthcare staff. Travel between assigned facilities and community locations may be required.
  • The work environment is typical of a healthcare facility, with controlled air temperature and moderate noise levels. Exposure to infectious materials may occur.
  • This position involves direct patient care, which may require heavy lifting and assistance with patient mobility. Equipment aids and/or coworkers may provide support. Frequent standing and bending are necessary, along with the ability to lift and lower items weighing up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis, and occasionally up to 40 lbs.
