REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF CONTENT AND LEARNING


Brief Description:

As part of Fuller Seminary, Fuller’s Leadership Formation Division (LFD) aims to become the go-to source for Christian leaders who desire research-based, practical resources and training. We want to equip those leaders to share Christ’s hope and healing in the church and the world. FULLER Equip is the non-degreed digital training platform of Fuller, working with LFD Centers, Fuller faculty, and partner organizations to empower leaders at scale through premier digital and formational experiences that catalyze demonstrable Kingdom impact.

The On-Call Instructional Developer will design, develop, and implement engaging and effective educational materials and courses. This role involves collaborating with the FULLER Equip team, subject matter experts (SMEs), educators, and other stakeholders to create instructional content that meets the needs of diverse learners. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instructional design, educational technology, theology and biblical studies, and adult learning principles.


Essential Functions:

  • Work closely with FULLER Equip’s instructional developers and Director of Content and Learning to understand the course development process.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to identify learning objectives and develop course content that aligns with organizational goals.
  • Design and develop instructional materials, including e-learning modules, assessments, and multimedia resources.
  • Apply instructional design theories, practices, and methods to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Conduct needs assessments and learner analysis to ensure content is relevant and effective.
  • Implement instructional strategies to measure the effectiveness of learning programs.


Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Master's degree or higher in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field. A degree in theology or biblical studies is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience working in course creation or curriculum design, preferably in a higher education institution
  • Strong understanding of Christian theological principles, their application in instructional design, and an understanding of adult learning theories, instructional design models, and best practices in digital learning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Additional Remarks:

  • This is a grant-funded position which may be time-limited and/or contingent upon sufficient funding. In the event the grant is discontinued, the position may be eliminated.
  • As an on-call role, this position is subject to availability and work is on an as-needed basis
  • This is an evergreen, pooled position. Applicants are reviewed and selected on an as-needed basis by department managers.

Pay Scale:

  • Hourly rate the seminary expects to pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour USD
