Northstar Behavioral Health is a team of professionals that specialize in medication assisted treatment through a multi-faceted programming structure for those battling opioid addiction. Our integrated team of professionals work with residents individually and in group settings. We are looking for individuals that possess the ability to counsel residents and help them to become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well and spiritually alive.

Key Result Areas:

  • Prompt Communication with 3rd party individuals (response time of a maximum of two business days)
  • Documentation to be 100% compliant
  • Professionally presentable workspace (no spills and HIPAA compliant)

Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential Functions)

  1. Provide intervention that addresses the goals established on the treatment plan.
  2. Document all client coordination in Procentive, activity notes and important information.
  3. Participate in weekly staffing meetings and supervision meetings.
  4. Provide court, Department of Corrections, and other referral sources with progress reports as requested.
  5. Work cooperatively with outside agencies.
  6. Exhibits knowledge of core competencies in relation to working with co-occurring disorders through continuing education and implementing skills into all aspects of treatment.
  7. Complete other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  8. Intake coordination into outpatient, sober living etc. and recommended continuum of care following;

Facilitation of referrals to substance use disorder services as indicated by the client's medical provider, Rule 25, comprehensive assessment, or treatment plan;

  1. Facilitation of referrals to mental health services as identified by a client's Rule 25, comprehensive assessment or treatment plan;
  2. Assistance with referrals to economic assistance, social services, housing resources, and prenatal care according to the client's needs;
  3. Life skills advocacy and support accessing treatment follow-up, disease management, and education services, including referral and linkages to long-term services and supports as needed
  4. Documentation of the provision of treatment coordination services in the client's file
  5. Receives one hour of weekly supervision by a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor or other qualified supervisor
  6. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements:

Required Skills and Experience: (Minimum requirements in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications or other knowledge skills and abilities)

  • has successfully completed 30 hours of classroom instruction on treatment coordination for an individual with substance use disorder, or can take the training upon hire;
  • has either:
    • (i) a bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields; or
    • (ii)current certification as an alcohol and drug counselor, level I, by the Upper Midwest Indian Council on Addictive Disorders; and
  • (5) has at least 2,000 hours of supervised experience working with individuals with substance use disorder.
  • Ability to pass a background check;
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 30-days of hire);
  • Minimum of 2 years free from substance abuse;
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record; and
  • Physical ability to perform duties as required by the position.

Additional Skills and Experience: (Preferred or helpful)

  • skilled in the process of identifying and assessing a wide range of client needs;
  • is knowledgeable about local community resources and how to use those resources for the benefit of the client;
  • Supervision of clinical staff
  • Familiar with Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT) Model
  • Familiar with Procentive, Electronic Health Record System
  • Have a passion for helping those in need and working with people in a fast-paced setting;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Are reliable, organized, professional and highly dependable - can be counted on to work independently.
