The Recreation Coordinator provides engaging program planning, promotional content, implementation and evaluation for active 50+ adults. Contributes to a welcoming atmosphere, exceptional customer service, and team collaboration. Responsibilities include onsite enrichment programs such as classes (excluding fitness), special events, clubs, presentations and day trips.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  • Creates and develops new and current programs.
  • Collaborates with other administrators.
  • Creates catalog copy quarterly.
  • Creates flyers and other promotional materials.
  • Assess attendance, program revenue and expenses to determine program viability.
  • Facilitates daily activities and supports presenters and volunteer group leaders.
  • Assures room availability and set up.
  • Performs other duties as required.


MINIMUM ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree or 2 years in an accredited college with major course work in Recreation, Activities, Event Planning or related field
  • 3 to 5 years' experience
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities

Knowledge of:

  • English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and proper phone etiquette
  • Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment
  • Relevant Bloomfield Township policies and procedures
  • Basic mathematics
  • Materials, methods, and techniques used in activities and event planning
  • Microsoft 360 including Outlook, Word and Excel

Skill in:

  • Use of relevant computer software 

Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Meet schedules and deadlines of the work
  • Accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries
  • Perform and complete multiple duties concurrently and in a timely manner
  • Work a flexible schedule as necessary (rare)
