General Purpose:
The Aquatics Maintenance-Pool Technician/Coordinator operates under the supervision of the Aquatic Center Manager, executing a range of routine maintenance and oversight tasks to ensure the daily safety and operational efficiency of the Aquatic Center. This role includes acting as a shift leader for water operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provides direct supervision to Swim Instructors, Lifeguards, Cashiers, and contracted service personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance: Responsible for monitoring facility operations to ensure compliance with state and federal safety regulations. Oversees the maintenance of mechanical systems including water filtration, pumps, heating, and air conditioning. Conducts water quality tests and adjusts chemical levels as necessary. Handles routine repairs and maintenance tasks such as tile replacement and plumbing fixes.
- Chemical Management: Manages chemical supplies, including chlorine and muriatic acid, and reports inventory needs to the Aquatic Manager.
- Custodial Duties: Performs custodial tasks including vacuuming pools, cleaning restrooms, and maintaining deck areas. Ensures overall cleanliness and upkeep of the facility.
- Shift Supervision: Monitors safety practices within the facility, enforces policies related to patron use, and prepares necessary reports. Assists in resolving operational issues during shifts and oversees personnel performance.
- Security: Responsible for the security of the building, performing final checks at the end of shifts, and securing all entrances and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED; completion of at least two years of college coursework in recreation or education is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of two years in recreation programming, physical education, or related fields is preferred.
- Knowledge and Skills: Familiarity with community recreation programming, swimming sports regulations, and facility operations. Ability to communicate effectively and establish positive relationships with staff and the public.
- Certifications: Must be at least 21 years old and possess Lifeguard Training Certification, or obtain it within eight months. Red Cross certifications in First-Aid and CPR are required.
Work Environment: The position involves working in both an office and pool setting, requiring physical activity and interaction with the public. The role may involve exposure to chemicals used in water quality maintenance.
