General Purpose:
The Aquatics Maintenance-Pool Technician/Coordinator operates under the supervision of the Aquatic Center Manager, executing a range of routine maintenance and supervisory responsibilities to ensure the safety and efficient functioning of the Aquatic Center. This role includes acting as a shift leader for water operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provides oversight to Swim Instructors, Lifeguards, Cashiers, and other service personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance: Responsible for monitoring facility operations to ensure compliance with safety regulations. This includes maintaining mechanical systems such as water filtration, pumps, and heating systems. Regularly tests pool water chemistry and makes necessary adjustments to uphold standards. Handles equipment upkeep, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Chemical Management: Manages chemicals used in pool maintenance, including chlorine and muriatic acid, and monitors supply levels.
- Custodial Duties: Engages in custodial tasks such as cleaning pools, restrooms, and decks, ensuring the facility remains in optimal condition.
- Shift Supervision: Monitors safety practices and enforces facility policies. Prepares necessary reports and assists in resolving operational issues during shifts. Oversees registration and fee collection for activities.
- Security Responsibilities: Ensures building security by conducting final checks at the end of shifts, locking doors, and turning off equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of college education in recreation or education fields preferred.
- Two years of experience in recreation programming, physical education, or related fields is advantageous.
- Must be at least 21 years old and possess Lifeguard Training Certification or obtain it within 8 months.
- Must have Red Cross certifications in First-Aid and CPR.
Work Environment:
This position involves working in both an office and pool setting, requiring physical activity and interaction with the public. The role may involve exposure to chemicals related to water quality maintenance.
