Menaul School is searching for a dedicated and principled individual to join our Security Staff responsible for maintaining the safety and security of our campus, which encompasses approximately 20 buildings set on a green 28-acre property in the heart of Albuquerque, NM. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our campus remains a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, and visitors alike. The ideal candidate will be tasked with a wide array of responsibilities ranging from routine patrols, monitoring security systems, enforcing school policies, and responding to emergencies to collaborating with local law enforcement and managing security for school events. Additionally, this person will play a crucial role in upholding our school's commitment to safety and security standards. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the well-being of our school community. Essential Job Responsibilities:

Patrol and Surveillance:

  • Perform regular patrols of campus buildings and grounds to ensure safety and security.
  • Monitor security cameras and alarm systems to detect and respond to any suspicious activity.
  • Ensure buildings and individual rooms are locked and secure.
  • Maintain detailed logs of patrols and security incidents.

Emergency Response:

  • Respond promptly to emergency situations such as fire alarms, medical emergencies, and security breaches.
  • Coordinate with local emergency services and law enforcement as needed.
  • Implement emergency evacuation procedures and provide guidance during emergencies.
 

 

Safety and Security Systems Management:

  • Regularly inspect security features such as locks, alarms, and lighting to ensure functionality.
  • Coordinate with supervisors to address any security system malfunctions or needs.
  • Document and report any instance of insecurity according to procedures.

Entry and Exit Management:

  • Monitor and control access points to ensure only authorized individuals enter the campus.
  • Verify the identity of students, staff, visitors, and contractors upon entry.
  • Implement and enforce visitor check-in/check-out procedures.
  • Identify and address any unauthorized attempts to access the campus.
  • Escort individuals who are not authorized to be on campus off the premises in a safe and professional manner.
  • Coordinate with school administration to manage and update access permissions as needed.

Minimum Requirements for Application:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Ability to maintain high level of professionalism regarding students, staff, parents, and school matters
  3. High degree of demonstrated responsibility
  4. Considerable physical activity, including ability to lift 50 pounds
  5. Ability to be on feet moving eight hours per day
  6. Ability to pass a background check and drug test

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Abilities:

  1. Successful work experience with students
  2. Experience in security or law enforcement
  3. Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License
  4. Ability to maintain positive relationships with administration, faculty, students
  5. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
