SAFETY AND SECURITY SPECIALIST
Description

Position Overview: Responsible for ensuring a secure and safe atmosphere for all guests, team members, and organizational assets to achieve the objectives of the Security Division at Sandia Casino.

Supervision: Operates under direct oversight while collaborating with the Security Lieutenant and Security Sergeant.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Provides exceptional customer service and support to guests and staff of the casino and to members of the Pueblo of Sandia/Sandia Casino.
2. Safeguards the monetary and material assets of the Pueblo and casino.
3. Acts to prevent theft, criminal behavior, vandalism, fire hazards, and unauthorized access by following protocols established by the Chief of Security.
4. Conducts foot or vehicle patrols of facilities, grounds, and other assigned areas, both indoors and outdoors, on a flexible schedule as directed by supervisory staff.

5. Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions, damaged fixtures, medical emergencies, and any other irregularities observed during the assigned shift.
6. Offers security escort services for guests to and from their vehicles upon request or instruction.
7. Provides verification services for witnesses and monetary transactions when directed.
8. Assists in medical emergencies as needed or instructed.
9. Participates in scheduled training sessions.
10. Documents incident reports and customer injuries.

Additional Responsibilities:
1. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including tasks in the Security Dispatch Center.
2. Monitors security systems, facilities, gaming machines, and transportation communications.
3. Dispatches officers and casino departments to required locations.
4. Answers phone calls and records messages from officers reporting absences.
5. Makes emergency notifications based on situations occurring in or around the casino.
6. Maintains lost and found items for monthly inventory.
7. Files daily paperwork submitted by officers at the end of their shifts.
8. Transportation: Takes requests for transportation services as needed by the Transportation Department.
9. Key Management: Distributes keys to officers and other departments.
10. Ensures radio equipment is functioning properly.
11. Performs clerical tasks and data entry of security radio communications both inside and outside the casino.
12. Issues temporary identification for employees.
13. Monitors security surveillance systems.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Ability to maintain a courteous and professional demeanor when interacting with customers, employees, and members of the Pueblo of Sandia.
2. Ability to investigate incidents and prepare clear, written reports.
3. Ability to obtain and maintain certifications in Basic First Aid, CPR, and Alcohol Server Certification.
4. Willingness to work under direct supervision for extended periods.
5. Proficient communication skills using radios, telephones, and computers.
6. Capable of fulfilling the physical demands required for a security officer role at Sandia Casino.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or GED certification.
2. Six (6) months of experience in a customer-focused environment.
3. Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Six (6) months of security experience, preferably in an Indian Gaming Facility setting.
Licensing Status: Must be able to obtain and maintain the necessary Gaming License. Will require a post-offer, pre-employment, and random drug screening.
Working Conditions: Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors as assigned.

Work hours may vary and can be lengthy, performed under stressful conditions, with overtime as determined by management.

Must be able to perform specific required physical movements including:

Trunk:
Bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, and carry.

Arms:
Reach, carry, push, pull, lift, twist, and rotate.

Legs:
Lift, push, pull, twist, rotate, and balance.

Hands:
Grasp, manipulate, bilateral coordination, eye and hand coordination, and overall finger dexterity.
