Assistant Estimator

In this role you will be helping collect and analyze data to estimate the time, budget, materials, and labor required for commercial and government security projects domestically and globally. You will work with various stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure project costs and prices sustain business.
To be successful in this role, you must be a self-starter, work independently, communicate verbally and in writing, and have organization skills. This role is hybrid with 1-2 days a week worked in our corporate office in Boise, ID.
Responsibilities:
Primary Domains:
- Document Management
- Communication with Clients
- Cost Estimation
- Proposal Development
- Relationship development with general contractors, owners, subcontractors, and material vendors.
Day to Day Functions:
- Receive project documents (drawings and specifications)
- Reviews and evaluates project documents
- Performs quantity take-off estimation for security solutions barriers, fencing, bollards, gates, etc.
- Contacts vendors and subcontractors for pricing
- Communicates with other specialties (internal and external) for means, methods, and sequence estimates.
- Build project estimates for direct and indirect costs.
- Develops proposal documents
Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Skilled in spreadsheet manipulation and creation
- Strong mathematical and organizational skills
- Computer, Internet & Software knowledge
- Cognitive functions & problem-solving skills
- Basic research, analysis, report development, and documentation skills
- Knowledge of state & federal construction codes (Construction Standards Institute Codes) and other key regulations/compliance laws
- Purchasing knowledge and record keeping skills
- Understanding of basic construction processes, procedures, means and methods
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings at an intermediate level
- Ability to construct a basic budget spreadsheet
- Understanding of construction plan reading and manipulation
- Understanding of construction conventions (e.g. drawings, units of measurement, etc.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Some experience, education, or general want to learn in project management, construction management, engineering, business, or related.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time
