POSITION SUMMARY

Role Responsibilities

The Estimator will collaborate closely with the Business Development, Engineering, and Operations teams to effectively respond to client tender requests. Key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating tender drawings, specifications, and documentation to create schedules, cost estimates, and bid documents.
  • Applying labor, equipment, and material costs to each estimate.
  • Recommending vendors and subcontractors, obtaining quotations, and consulting with specialists to formulate accurate estimates.
  • Coordinating with internal teams to gather necessary information for cost estimates.
  • Maintaining a centralized estimating database for historical project data.
  • Providing recommendations for improving cost estimating procedures to minimize discrepancies.
  • Preparing tenders in alignment with company bidding processes.
  • Assisting proposal coordinators in fulfilling tender submission requirements, including drafting cover letters and methods statements.
  • Storing original and backup estimates according to company protocols.
  • Supporting project management to ensure a seamless transition from tendering to project execution.
  • Willingness to travel for site visits and inspections, which may include international assignments.
  • Delivering presentations to clients regarding submitted proposals.
  • Conducting risk assessments to ensure accuracy in estimates.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.

Experience:

  • 5-10 years of experience in estimating within the materials handling or mining sectors.
  • Advanced proficiency in estimating software and productivity tools, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Preferred familiarity with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is an advantage.
