Summary

 

The Facilities, Maintenance and Safety Manager will inspect the properties to identify necessary repairs and quality visual upkeep. Our ideal candidate has some carpentry experience and is knowledgeable about various hand and power tools. They may also be asked to perform maintenance on our plumbing, electrical system, as well as vehicles - so any experience in these areas is a major plus. As the primary person of responsibility, there are expectations to be point for landscaping and cleaning maintenance tasks.

 

The Facilities, Maintenance and Safety Manager Will be responsible for all phases of the overall timely inspection, maintenance, cleanliness, physical appearance, “curb appeal,” and related record-keeping. Record keeping involves OSHA Reporting, following up on incident reports and immediate repair need at both facilities.

 

Organization vehicles are imperative for SafePlace staff assisting clients with specific transportation needs. Automotive maintenance / upkeep and cleaning (interior and exterior) will also be a part of the responsibilities

 


Responsibilities


Perform maintenance, repair and improvements to the real property and fixtures at the shelter and business office.

  • Develop and maintain routine maintenance schedule.
  • Respond expediently to notifications by supervisors of areas urgently needing repair.
  • Ensure that work order log is kept current and high-priority items are addressed quickly
  • Communicate in a timely and efficient manner with managers and staff regarding completion of facilities duties.
  • Interview, schedule, and coordinate competent contractors to provide repair or maintenance services.
  • Oversee volunteer groups and individuals assisting in repair or maintenance of shelter and business office.

 

Ensure that all necessary cleaning duties are completed at the shelter and business office.

  • Interview, schedule, and coordinate competent contractors to provide routine contracted cleaning services.
  • Develop cleaning lists and ensure that tasks are being completed by contractors on a weekly basis.
  • Communicate with contractors about additional cleaning duties that may be needed, such as cleaning and setting resident rooms at shelter.


                                Compliant and CDC recommendations when appropriate.

  • Ensure that cleaning standards follow local health department recommendations and the Department of Labor and Industries.
  • Maintain all facilities in accordance with the health, fire, chemical storage, general safety and building codes of the State of Washington and local jurisdictions.
  • Keep records based on current local codes and requirements.
  • Perform inspections and safety checks to ensure compliance. And respond to all compliance issues noted by inspectors.
  • Record keeping involves OSHA Reporting follow ups as well as documents completion on urgent incident reports and immediate repair need. Maintain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS)/Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

 

Facilitate acquisition and storage of in-kind donations and commodities for the shelter and business office clients.

  • Ensure that donations and tangible goods are stored and distributed appropriately across the agency.
  • Transport items to appropriate location as needed and ensure that common areas at both facilities are clean and free of debris.

 

Facilitate the maintenance of the facilities’ ground care.

  • Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, planters, and other grounds.
  • Empty exterior trash bin into the large dumpster, when full.
  • Shovel snow from walks, driveways, and parking lots, and spread salt in those areas when needed.
  • Schedule and coordinate regular landscaping tasks with contractors.
  • Oversee volunteer group members or individuals assisting in yard care.

 

Responsible for managing supply inventory, purchasing supplies, and conducting weekly shopping.

  • Perform weekly shelter shopping, utilizing delivery services to the business office when appropriate.
  • Ensure that inventory supplies are stocked and updated at shelter and business office as necessary.
  • Communicate with managers and staff about needed supplies, order supplies in a timely manner, and ensure that supplies are easily accessible by all staff.

 

Attend all regularly scheduled Organization Facility Meetings (i.e. Safety Committee meetings), all-staff meetings, and other meetings as required.


Qualifications

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Two years’ technical experience/knowledge in the following areas: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and general household maintenance and repair.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Commitment to the need for client and agency confidentiality.
  • Ability to understand and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Have car and current automobile liability insurance and valid driver’s license.
